When we were here, Mariah Carey's yacht was anchored somewhere in this harbor. I try not to hold this against Capri as a whole.

I took this picture of Cindy and our captain on our two-hour tour of Capri before blacking out and nearly having a seizure due to motion sickness. The sea was angry that day, my friend. Like an old man sending back a bowl of soup in a deli...

Me and our tour boat, the Tragara. During parts of the tour, I was unable to open my eyes or move my hands, hence the scrunched face and clenched fists. In the background, our captain scratches himself and an unidentified man eats a sandwich.

Happier times on the public beach in Capri. (From left) Gabe, Whitney, Pete, Jamie, Katie and Rich - proof that I am not, in fact, touring Europe by myself.

The seven of us atop Mount Vesuvius, with its giant crater in the background. A guide told us that when it buried Pompeii, enough came out of this hole to create a column of ash 25 kilometers high, roughly from my house to the Solomon Pond Mall. If that doesn't impress you, we were able to rent those walking sticks for only 20 cents apiece. Score!

(From left) Gabe, Debra, Cindy, Danielle, Pete and Rich tossing Euros into Rome's Trevi Fountain. Legend says that a traveler who throws a coin into the fountain is ensured a speedy return to Rome; a traveler who tosses two will fall in love in Rome. I threw in one (my prediction is November 15), and would have thrown another one in, but who needs true love when there are 24-hour Heineken stands?

A view of San Marino's Castello della Cesta and Castello Montale from San Marino's Castello della Guaita. The only way to get to this vantage point, which is about a 1,000 meter drop off a cliff, is by way of ladder. Of course, there's only one ladder and people wanting to go in both directions. Fighting my way down I got to practice my Italian with phrases like "Permiso!" (Excuse me!), "Ho fame" (I'm hungry!) and "Sono Americano di Boston!" (I am an American from Boston!).

The Palazzo Pubblico of San Marino, an indepedent republic within Italy with a population fewer than two Graftons. You can't see them, but on the left are armed guards that change every hour on the half hour. To my knowledge, Palazzo Publico translates to "public palace," so I'm not really sure what they were guarding. Allora...

This bomba ("bust") of Abraham Lincoln is inside the Palazzo Pubblico. The inscription reads: "Although your dominion is small, your state (San Marino) is nevertheless one of the most honored in all history." Three quarters of us had never heard of San Marino before this weekend, so I'm going to have to stick the "bomba" label on that.

Even though Jamie didn't send another picture, I couldn't let this spot go to waste: Nathan, General Maximus, and Jamie at The Coliseum in Rome. He's not really that tough in real life. Jamie punched him the stomach and I kicked him in the groin right after this shot was taken. He cried like a little girl.
