In the background is the Duomo, or the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. I couldn't get it all because it's so huge - visible from every part of the city. And in the foreground is the battistero (or baptistry), where the Gates of Paradise are and Dante was christened. I go by there on my way to the supermarket. Must be nice... |
The view outside mine and
Josh's bathroom window. It looks a lot nicer than it
smells. Almost time to go to town with the Maestro Limpo. |

These thugs were hanging out at the Uffizi, which supposedly houses more first-class art per square inch than any other museum in the world. Every time someone would walk by, the dog would attack, and they'd laugh and yell Italian profanity. I found it funny they'd be boozing outside this world-class musuem, so I took a picture. From behind a statue, across the street... |
My luxurious, $18 per night
suite in the attic of Venice's Hotel Marte. As you can
see, the one-star rating was generous. Yes, those walls
are made of bedsheets. |

My 6-year-old cousin Dakota could run a hotel better than this maniac. Every five minutes for 45 minutes, she would flat out forget why I was there. I almost took off to find somewhere else with a couple of South Koreans before finally getting my room at about 11:30 p.m. |
Some might say I'm a loser
for spending two hours finding the manhole Indy and Helga
climbed out of in Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade. I
would tend to agree. |

A guy from Pittsburgh took this for me while I was waiting for the train on the Canal Grande. While I was waiting, I actually caught the annual Venice Regatta. I wondered why all the gondoleros were dressed the same, only to find out hours later that regatta means "boat race." In English. |
This is my best guess as to where the Indy chase scene was held in Venice. It's right near the library and, as you can see, plenty wide enough. However, the water smells pretty bad and is supposedly pretty polluted, so it may not have been in Venice at all. |

(From left) An unknown,
Pietro, Marta, Zo, Me and Davide at a festival we went to
in Asta. I'm the one holding a glass, but Zo's friends
like red wine a LOT more than I do. |
Zo was nice enough to fill up my water bottle at one of the bull's head fountains that are all over Torino. The water was acqua minerale naturale (mineral water), as opposed to acqua minerale frizzante (seltzer, or, sewer water) which I've inadvertantly bought about 20 times since being here. |
